Printing
Vistaprint EDDM and Other Online Printers
Online printers make EDDM® postcards easy to order, but they don't all do the same job. Some print and ship the cards to you. Others print and mail them. Here's what Vistaprint's service covers and how the alternatives differ, based on each company's own public pages.

How Vistaprint's EDDM postcards work
According to Vistaprint's EDDM® postcard page:
- They print the cards and ship them to you, bundled in packs of 100.
- Postage isn't included. You pay USPS when you drop the cards off.
- You choose the routes yourself using the EDDM® tool on usps.com, which can filter by age and income.
- You complete a USPS facing slip for each bundle and hand everything over at the Post Office.
- The product page lists 4 size options, 2 paper stocks, 2 paper thicknesses, single- or double-sided printing and USPS-compliant templates. There's also an optional built-in postage and address box.
- You can order up to 10,000 online, with a quote for larger orders, and either use their templates or upload your own design.
One detail worth knowing: the page describes packs of 100 as what USPS requires. The USPS rule is actually bundles of 50 to 100 pieces, so packs of 100 meet it, but smaller bundles are allowed too.
In short: Vistaprint handles the printing. You handle the mailing. If the Post Office trip and paperwork don't bother you, that's a simple way to go. Mail prep, step by step is on USPS's site.
Print-and-mail alternatives
Some online printers will also do the mailing:
- 48HourPrint lists two EDDM® order types, "Print and Mail" and "Print Only". Its EDDM page shows four sizes (6.5 x 9, 6.5 x 8, 8.5 x 11 and 6.5 x 12), a free file check for EDDM readiness and bundling in sets of 100.
- PrimoPrint offers a full-service EDDM® option: you select your routes and delivery date and upload a design (or use their designers), and they handle printing, processing and delivery to the Post Office.
Staples and other big names also offer print and direct mail services. We haven't confirmed their EDDM® details, so ask your local store what's included.
What to check with any online printer
- Print only or print and mail? This changes your workload more than anything else.
- Who pays postage, and when? At the counter, or included in the order.
- Which sizes qualify? Every size offered for EDDM Retail® must meet the USPS minimum.
- How are cards bundled? Bundles must hold 50 to 100 pieces with a facing slip each.
- Is there a file check? Catching an indicia mistake before printing saves a reprint.
Our printer question list covers the full set.
When a local printer is a better fit
- You want a physical proof or to see paper samples in person.
- You need an unusual size or finish.
- You'll mail regularly and want one person who knows your campaign.
- You want advice on routes, design or timing.
Questions people ask
Does Vistaprint mail my EDDM postcards for me?
Not according to its EDDM® postcard page. Vistaprint prints and ships the cards to you, and you drop them off at the Post Office and pay postage there.
Can I use my own design with Vistaprint?
Yes. The page offers both their templates and uploading your own design. Our free templates can help you set up a file with the right guides.
Is postage included in online printers' EDDM prices?
It depends on the printer and option. Vistaprint's EDDM® price excludes postage. Print-and-mail options from other printers may include it. Ask before you compare prices.
Which online printer is best for EDDM?
It depends on whether you want print only or print and mail, which sizes you need and how much help you want. We don't rank printers. Use the quote comparison table with real quotes.
